Based on large petroleum refining projects of Yanchang Petroleum Group, BPEC has gradually established two key development directions such are hydrogenation and catalysis. Based on these two key areas , BPEC is trying every effort to develop toward other refining fields.
As for hydrogenation, BPEC has designed the first set of VCC coal tar hydro-cracking unit. VCC hydro-cracking uses the process of suspension bed plus fixed bed, which not only can process whole-fraction coal tar, but also can realize mixed refining from coal and oil, with high conversion rate, strong adaptability of raw materials and economy. At the same time, BPEC has also undertaken a lot of refining projects related with gasoline, diesel oil hydrogenation, achieving all-round development of hydro-treating and hydro-cracking.
As for catalysis, cracking reaction/regeneration system using fluidized catalysis is applied in the first domestic ACO plant producing olefin from light oil introduced by BPEC from KBR This plant uses light naphtha to produce polymer grade ethylene and propylene, with the production yield being greatly improved, and the ratio of propylene to ethylene being close to 1:1. Compared with the steam cracking reaction, the conditions are moderate and beneficial to reducing energy consumption, and the yield of olefin is higher than that using steam cracking process.
BPEC currently has undertaken many projects for whole-plant design and whole-plant expansion & modification, which has essentially improved the design and EPC capability for large-scale refinery.
